Parse and "x" error messages URGENT HELP NEEDED

Postby LeiMomi » Tue Dec 29, 2009 10:15 am

I continually receive a "Failed to Parse OPF files" error message on a new book I uploaded, therefore the book cannot be viewed. I also receive an "illegal occurrance of "x" error message when the book is done with the FTP process and it locks up.

I have a deadline in 48 hours to have this book online. Other books have performed fine -- this is the only one I have trouble with. PLEASE help!!

Thank you!

Since you have made several albums, I assume you did a "Save As" to your album before uploading. You may have used an invalid character (a character reserved for programming) in a file name or your file name may be too long (greater than 64 characters) or may have file types not acceptable by your web site.

Thanks so much for your reply. Actually, I didn't change a thing. I replaced one page with an updated page (both jpeg files of the same name and size) and loaded the book again. I pay for premium hosting, so storage space online isn't the issue either. The original book was deleted (the one that worked) and the new one with the exact same file name was loaded. After I encountered a problem, I tried renaming it thinking there may have been confusion, but that didn't work either. Every page in this book is a jpeg created in photoshop. There is no additional text, photos, videos, music or anything. I have been loading and hosting books frequently successfully since August without a hitch -- and replacing them with updated books. I have replaced pages and reloaded books of the same name several times and they have always replaced each other without a problem until now.

I am a professional visual web and graphic designer, and have a very strong technical background. I must say that FlipAlbum is one of the most finicky programs I have ever used -- so I am aware I have to be extra careful with names, etc. In my opinion it's eBook's/Flipbook's fault -- when I receive a "parse" error, it sounds as if the files didn't load right on THEIR end and it's a hosting server issue because of a syntax error or a .net issue, or some other issue with their technology such as the compiler on their end that is the final engine that "drives" the book online, and that something is amiss with how it's writing on their side, but I may be wrong.

Any other suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks so much for your time. I appreciate the help very much.

Issue was a bad compiler on my computer, not a software issue. My relatively new HP Pavillion is corrupting software and files and now has several performance issues. I reloaded the book using my laptop and there were no error messages whatsoever, and the book performs flawlessly. Thanks!!
